James O’Keefe, Acorn Foe, was arrested for trying to wire tap phones of Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of New Orleans. According to reports, O’Keefe showed up at Senator Mary Landrieu’s office with two other men dressed as telephone repair men so that they may “repair the phones”. O’Keefe taped the men on his cellphone in what could be his latest stunt until they were arrested. FBI Special Agent Steven Rayes alleges that O’Keefe aided and abetted two others, Joseph Basel and Robert Flanagan, who dressed up as employees of a telephone company and attempted to interfere with the office’s telephone system. They were later released on bail.

O’Keefe became famous earlier this year when he exposed Acorn in a series of videos whereby he and a friend asked Acorn officials how to perform illegal activities like sex trafficking, tax evashion, money laundering and prostitution.

Now, James may have gone too far but what did James O’Keefe hear about in New Orleans that led him to commit a federal offence.

In case you haven’t heard, Acorn is under attack. ACORN is one of the largest community organizing groups in America. With more than 1,200 neighborhood chapters in areas from Seattle to Miami, the leviathan company has its headquarters in a small house in New Orleans. Its aims are to gain better housing for first time homebuyers and tenants, securing living wages for low-wage workers, more investment in communities from banks and governments, and better public schools. Here is a quick clip of the debate.

The videos were created by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, activist filmmakers who went undercover at offices in Baltimore, Washington D.C., New York, San Bernardino, Calif. and San Diego, Calif. At each location, O’Keefe and Giles said they needed assistance getting a house to operate a prostitution ring involving underage girls from South America. One by one, ACORN employees told them how to evade the law.

The House voted to ban federal funding to ACORN and the 2010 Census has said cut their ties with the group. Earlier this year, ACORN was involved in a controversy to register Mickey Mouse for voting. Today, they are again under attack. What did the ACORN CEO have to say about this newest controversy.

The Republicans have been closely aligning Obama with ACORN for sometime but in a press conference during his election, Obama noted his involvement in the organization, “My relationship to ACORN is pretty straightforward. It’s probably 13 years ago when I was still practicing law, I represented ACORN and my partner in that representation was the U.S. Justice Department in having Illinois implement what was called the “motor voter” law, to make sure that people could go to DMVs and driver’s license facilities to get registered. It wasn’t being implemented. That was my relationship, and is my relationship to ACORN.”

For the past few years, the Catholic church as been burdened by sex scandals but parishioners still attend church and uphold their tenets. Is this a just another tactic to move the discussion from healthcare.

Is it right that the entire ACORN agency is brought down by a few bad apples?
