Abercrombie and Fitch refuses to give Muslim Woman a Job
When you usually pass by the doors of Abercrombie and Fitch, there are usually half naked boys and half naked girls calling you. While most people are not complaining about Abercrombie’s “forget about the clothes, sell sex policy”, Abercrombie is facing a lawsuit this week.
According to reports, Abercrombie refused to hire 19 year old, Samantha Elauf, a 19-year-old community college student from Tulsa, Okla. Abercrombie said the the wearing of her black hijab, or headscarf was prohibited by its Look Policy,” an employee dress code standard.
In turn, Samanta filed suit based on discrimination on “basis of religion”. If Samanta is traditional, why would she want to work at the overly sexualized Abercrombie. Does Abercrombie have a right to enforce their dress code? Isn’t the dress code simple? Abs, chest and cute faces.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission launched an investigation. According to reports, Abercrombie & Fitch said that there dress code prohibits employees wearing hats, other coverings or the color black.” With Abercrombie down 30% in sales this year, this is not what they need.
