  • New Fall Series, Modern Family delivers belly laughs

    With well developed characters filled with passion heart and personality, Modern Family delivers in each carefully constructed act. Each punch-line is on point and each moment is unexpected. It is nice that they approach this series like a reality series because the characters get moments to show even more of their deeply constructed character. For example, when Phil, “the hip dad”, in the traditional dad is first introduced, he describes himself, I’m cool dad, that’s my thang. I’m hip, I surf the web, I text. LOL: laugh out loud, OMG: oh my god, WTF: why the face” Definitely a belly laugh moment if you are a texter.

    There are unforgettable sweet moments of connection between the family members which are priceless. When the adorable Manny, the honest cuddly son of Gloria, the young hot Columbian and Jay(Ed O’Neill, Married with Children), decides to confront the love of his life a 16 year old blonde at the mall, Jay discourages him, ” If you put on a puffy, white shirt and declare your love for a 16-year-old, you’re gonna be swinging from a flagpole in your puffy, white underpants.”

    The best moment of the night was Cameron, husband of Mitchell (the gay couple), deciding to introduce their adopted daughter Lily to a reluctant family by dimming the lights and presenting her like Simba in the Circle of Life. Once the series continues to deliver these perfect water cooler moments, it will survive. By far, one of the funniest sitcoms I have seen in a long time (i.e. next to Glee).

  • Modern Family begins on the most diverse network, ABC

    ABC Network is the number one leading network for GLAAD but any day you turn on ABC you can find an image of modern America. The leading shows, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice were created by an African American Woman, . The chief of staff in the Grey’s Anatomy hospital is African American. There are Asian, Caucasian, Latino- American and European nurses and doctors. Ugly Betty has a charming Latino family. Brothers and Sisters brings you different sides of the aisle with Republicans and Democrats and a gay married son. It’s a colorful world over at ABC and it is only going to get more colorful with ABC’s Modern Family.

    What is Modern Family? The new series follows the everyday lives of a modern day American family, each with different backgrounds. The family that is the subject of this documentary is the Pritchett-Delgado-Dunphy clan. The clan consists of patriach father Jay, his much younger Colombian-born second wife Gloria and her son Manny, Jay’s daughter (from his first marriage) Claire, her husband Phil and their three children, Jay’s openly gay son Mitchell, his husband Cameron and their adopted baby girl from Vietnam, Lily. Each episode is expected to capture their complicated, yet normal settings during their taping.
