How to help Victims of Tidal Waves and Earthquakes Now
In the most recent days, tsunami’s and earthquakes have wrecked havocs on the lives of many. Now is the time to help.
“It can take a week or months for them to get over there at great cost,” said Roger Dixon of the American Red Cross.
Money may see like an impersonal way to help, but in this hour of need, cash rings loudest of all, reports Cowan.
The following aid agencies are accepting contributions for assistance that they or their affiliates are providing for those affected by the earthquake and tidal waves in Asia:

New Music:NDambi Part 1 The Music, The Album

The streets were busy with rush hour traffic as people spilled from their offices heading home but upstairs on Broadway in a chic New York boutique hotel, N’dambi was belting out songs for the press. I walked in just in time for the last song,”Can’t Hardly Wait.”? I was simply blown away. One can count those who can still sing in the business. Kandi (Real Housewives of Atlanta) says that you can make anyone sounds good. Luckily, N’dambi doesn’t need any assistance.

Her bold reddish bronze fro demands attention and her bright eyes relay the passion she feels for each note she sings. She is a tall shapely woman and her sweet nature is clearly seen as she reaches out for a firm but soft handshake. N’dambi is a humble musician. It is clear that she loves what she does. She has no problem singing her single acapella with Cornelius accompanying her on guitar. She grooves to the melody and performs what seems to be an extended version. She finishes and we all applaud. If she sounds this good live, I can only imagine what she will sound like with a full band. On October 13th, at SOB’s N’Dambi will bring us Pink Elephant live. It’s an event I already have in my calendar.

The album
With a silky velvety sound and a funky groove, she delivers beautifully on each track. Her new album, Pink Elephant, debuting on October 6th, she brings a fresh new outlook. Coupled with storytelling and real honesty, the album gives everyone someone to connect with.
If you are in love, you are possibly singing, “The One”. (”You are my one.”)If you were in love, you are possibly singing, “Ooo Baby” reminiscing about better days. (”Hello baby, you were on my mind.”) If you are feeling in a great mood and want to take “good music back”, you are jamming to “The World is a Beat.”(”They romance me with a trance now people I don’t know don’t dance.”)N’dambi’s key track, “Can’t Hardly Wait” is ferocious as a person fed up with their relationship talks about the anticipation of leaving a bad relationship for a new life. N’dambi boldly says, “I can’t wait til I get over you. Can’t wait…to stop f*ckin with you.” She is not afraid to say what she thinks and feels. It’s a great album for a feel ground house party. House Party anyone?
If you are just hearing on N’Dambi, you have a lot to catch up on.

National March for Equality Update: Cleve Jones, gay activist believes to succeed, we must "push on"

Cleve Jones, gay actvisit and leader of this year’s National Equality March delivered a few poignant speeches last week calling for all to participate in the march. We caught up with him in Jackson Heights, a community which has seen many tragedies against gays in their community, where Cleve exprerssed the urgency of acting now when “the door is open”. The National Equality March will be the largest effort this year since Proposition passed crippling gay rights activists The March for Equality, is scheduled for October 11th as a the starting point for organizing around the country toward full equality on a federal level.
Cleve used the opportunity to talk about the pros and cons of the march and why he changed his mind to participate. “It is my belief that a door has opened and it will not be easy. A march won’t do it. Letter writing won’t do it. Electing our own won’t do it. (referring to Daniel Droom) Selecting supporters won’t do it. Writing checks won’t do it. Going to black tie dinners won’t do it. Marching on picket lines won’t do it. Getting arrested in civil disobedience won’t do it. But if we do all of those things. Do them over and over with every little bit of strength that we can muster right now. I think we can kick that door all the way open and march through it.”
After those closing remarks. I was prepared to go to the National Equality March. Now is the time. If you are interested in attending the March in DC and are in New York, please contact us. If you are in another state, please visit THE NATIONAL EQUALITY MARCH’S WEBSITE

Maurice Runea and Romeo bring the party to an art exhibit, Lucas Stoffels Spectacular Spectacular

What happens when Maurice Runea and Romeo Redwine discover Luccas Stoffel’s art exhibit, Spectacular Spectacular?
Do they a. buy a painting, b. interpret all the paintings in the gallery or c. get thrown out? You will have to find out!
a bit about Lucas Stoffel
Lucas graduated from Iowa State University in 2000 with a degree in design and theater arts. He went on to receive a certificate of achievement from Ancestral Media, Paris in 2003. His work defies traditional practices because he advances the work by using digital technology. Lucas’ work emerges from photography, which is then composed and manipulated in the computer, finally being transformed onto canvas by hand. His subjects are personal depictions of world cultures gathered from his travels. (Credit: Excerpt: Lucas stoffel’s statement)

Are people disclosing too much? The new age of Disclosure on TV.

“Honesty is the best policy.” our parents used to say but are we in an age that we are disclosing too much. We have all of our pictures on facebook. We have status updates each day or several times a day. If you are not on facebook, you have myspace, Twitter, Bebo, BlackPlanet.com, Flickr.com, Reunion.com, aSmallWorld and more. We share so much that people have started googling themselves daily simply to see what exists.
This fall, Oprah has set of an insane disclosure marathon. First, Whitney Houston told us everything that has happened behind her closed doors. She told us about her drug use and the spooky eyes Bobby Brown drew on the wall. Then, last week, Mackenzie Phillips disclosed that she had not only been taught to use drugs by her dad but was raped and then shared a consensual relationship with him for many years. On one hand, there are people to hear these stories and are encouraged but we are only getting one side. It’s like someone screaming out on a corner “facts” about you but you are not there to say anything.

It’s good that people are able to tell their story. Expression is important. Bottling up your feelings and secrets can eat away at the soul of an individual but is public disclosure really necessary. Is this a new marketing tool for individuals? It seems that every time a celebrity runs into trouble their next step is a public interview to discuss their vices. Is TV the new confessional booth? If that is the case, Oprah and Larry King need to be awarded their doctorate. Just call her Prophet Oprah why don’t we? Maybe even Bishop Larry?
So what is too much? Should there a limit on disclosure? Disclosure may be helpful when it comes to the government. We always say we want our government to tell us the truth but we have never had an Oprah interview on “healthcare”, “the war” or “corporate government connections”. If we had an Oprah interview on many of our government policies, the revelations and explanations may take 1000s of hours. First, everyone would have to talk about the coverups and then explain the long journey of how we got where we are today. Sounds painful but the real things we need disclosed aren’t talked about deep enough. In fact, there are so many agencies to prevent disclosure, that we couldn’t cut it with a knife.
You know what we really need disclosed, the contents of what we are eating. We need to know, what are the strange chemicals in our food. We need to know where our money really goes when we give our taxes. We need to know where those donations to charities really go when we give from the heart. We definitely need more disclosure. We just need it for some important stuff. Everyone else can simply talk face to face with their family and friends and stop revealing your underwear size on television. Thanks!

Disney Racist Characters, The Past and First Black Disney Princess, The Future

Cracked.com gives us a little food for thought as they review characters from Disney studios that may have been considered racist. I know! I never thought of it but number 5 on the list is The Siamese Twin Gang from Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers. Cracked.com points out, “Even as criminals, Asian-Americans immigrants, represented here by a gang of cats, have become integral parts of American culture. Kidding! They own a laundromat, run an illegal, basement gambling operation and speak in horribly mangled “Engrish.” It’s like a designer of World War II propaganda posters accidentally quantum leaped into the body of a late ’80s cartoon writer.”
Other characters they point out are racist? Aladdin & King Jafar from Aladdin, Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, The Crows from Dumbo, King Louie from The Jungle Book and the Indians from Peter Pan.
Check out more characters from the website OTHER RACIST DISNEY CHARACTERS!
However, this Christmas, Disney will bring us the first Black Disney princes. Coming Soon is Disney’s The Princess and The Frog.
